INFLUENCE IN FASHION.
What does influence fashion ?
From the beginning of time even Adam and Eve improvised with leaves,
the caveman improvised and wore the skin of animals,
Highlanders in Scotland wore a length of homespun woollen cloth wrapped around,
Then came the Kilt, still worn today, as are the others listed above,
although leaves today are now often an embellishment on clothes.
Influence comes from our surroundings, so taking this in to account, the weather, the occasion, these are attributes towards what clothing attire we wear. Today there are other factors which influence us, our jobs, family, friends and also interests such as music this is a large influence as the music artist will often portray a certain style which some of their music fans follow. Influenced or influential.
Colour was also important later in time, in Scotland the Highlander would wear a tartan kilt which would be coloured by using plants found locally these plants changed the fabric to colours which would blend in to the area they were in, so as to act like camoflague to any enemies, the colours would also dictate which group clan that they belonged, a form of identification.
Living life takes us on many paths and some are wet, so waterproof clothing is of function, haha, so sometimes the weather can influence our fashion, both hot and cold. Another factor is situation we may find ourselves in, we should follow etiquette in places of the world where we must be suitably attired. Other times we can wear what ever pleases us. Although hopefully you can appreciate the different times when fashion are influenced and just tune in and go with the flow and enjoy the adventure.
Throughout our lives we go through different activities which may require suitable clothing for sport or for an interview, clothing and the fashion style are pratical and personal.
There are many things that influence what we wear, music is one which can create a whole new or recurrance in the fashion stakes. Styles of music influence the bands which in turn influence the fans be it hip-hop or heavy metal the influence carries on and helps to give identity which is so important in other aspects of our lives. The punk music industry in the 1970`s lead to the start in the rise to fame to super star level for one of the worlds greatest designers, Vivienne Westwood, still very much a key person in the fashion industry today, she shows such great talent of expression, her clothing available worldwide and an iconic figure herself due to her selfless dedication for her art of couture.
So the situation, surroundings, activity, weather, may dictate what you wear or you decide.
