There are many great fashion designers throughout the world, many have been in the fashion industry for years and are recognised with a distinguished mark or pattern and style. For unrecognised fashion designers it is a business that takes alot of determination, and creativity and other attributes, which lead you to succeed in the clothing world. Many of the worlds best known fashion designers designing clothes, are in fashions capitals such as Milan in Italy, Paris in France, New York in America and London in England. These cities are known as fashion capitals, and there are others, but these lead the way in the designer fashion style runway and catwalk, fashion show collections of the fashion designers.

                                                                                                    

 

                                                                                                           

In the U.K United Kingdom, Great Britain there are fashion designers which have recieved a great response from the followers of fashion. To celebrate the designers of British fashion there has been a special set of stamps released by The Royal Mail, featuring British Designers. The photographs were taken by Solve Sundsbo a top fashion photographer. There are 10 stamps which have been produced, to celebrate the past 60 years of Great Britain`s fashion designers.

The designers included in the stamps are :

Zandra Rhodes - Gold Ballgown, Paul Smith - Blue Suit, Vivienne Westwood - Tartan Harlequin Dress, Alexander McQueen - Black Feather Dress, Ossie Clark - Hippy Dress, Hardy Amies - Skirt Suit,
Saville Row Tailor Tommy Nutter - 3 Piece Suit, Norman Hartnell - Dress Designer to the Queen,

So Great Britain has many fashion designers who hail from all around the UK, and so it proves that no matter where you live in the U.K. it is possable to enter into this creative innovative industry of clothes making.

               


If you are currently at college studying fashion then hopefully your creations will adorn the worlds runways in the future, and  if you have dreams then realise them, and fulfill your ambition. There are good college`s  throughout the world, and of course the uk, so check them out, by going to an information point like the local library to find out details.

Styled To Rock.

                                                                STYLED TO ROCK.

Series1 Episode3 of TV show on Sky Living television.
Styled To Rock is looking to find the next superstar designer for some of the biggest stars in the world. The winner of the entire program will design an outfit for Rihanna to wear at a music concert tour.

This weeks program the designers in the competition will be split in to two groups to design and style Little Mix, a four piece music group band. The designers have to make outfits for each of the individuals in the band, they have three days to complete the challenge.
The hosts are Henry Holland, Nicola Roberts and Lysa Cooper.

 

                              


The designers groups have two team leaders who are the winners from last weeks challenge Jacqueline and Steve.
Jacqueline`s team are : Ricky, Meganne, Ralph, Anam.

Steve`s team are: Zainab, Ben, Heidi, Chanelle.

The Little Mix stylist gave the team designers some guidlines for the brief, they are :

Perri "Rock-chick meets bo-ho with a 90`s twist".
Leanne "Urban hipster".
Jesy "Street, sport, rock, mash-up".
Jade "Girlie,cute,quirky & flirty.

After both teams of designers take on the brief they discuss the roles each will do in this task. Each group team leader heads the challenge. The designers go shopping for fabric and also shop for accessories, zips, buttons and other embellishments.
Jacqueline and Steve`s team designers have been making 4 outfits in 3 days for music group Little Mix, the clothes are now complete.

Little Mix arrive to see what the designers clothing is like, they must choose which designers creations they are going to wear for a photo shoot which will advertise the next little Mix single release.

Both team`s of designers outfits are tried on and a decision is reached as to which look the music band like the best.

One of the team with Jacqueline as leader has to be asked to leave the losing group, with much thought and chat Henry Holland and Nicola Roberts decide that Anam is the person who is to leave Styled To Rock.

America`s Next Top Model.

                                                AMERICA`S NEXT TOP MODEL.

Welcome to series 15 episode 1 of A.N.T.M. which is a tv television program to find Americas next top model.
Series15 Episode1.
The TV show is brought to you by Tyra Banks and includes runway trainer J.Alexander and photo shoot creative director Jay Manuel. This year there are more top designers, top photographers and top stylists as well as top profile fashion experts.

The winner of the show will recieve $100,000 contract with Covergirl cosmetics and will be signed to IMG a top model managing company, also the winner will be featured in a spread in Italian Vogue magazine as well as an aditional spread and cover for Beauty in Vogue magazine.

It is very difficult at this early stage in the show to choose amongst the girls as we know so little of there qualities, its early days in the fashion world of ANTM.

Styled To Rock with Rihanna, Henry Holland, Nicola Roberts and Lysa Cooper starring in a television show trying to find the next fashion design superstar.

Series 1. Episode 2.

Celebrity clients this week are music duo Rizzle Kicks. The contestants must design outfits for the band. The contestants each have to design and make an outfit for a single member of the duo Rizzle Kicks.

Designing for Jordan is Anan, Brett, Ricky, Steve and Chanelle.

Designing for Harley is Ralph, Jacqueline, Heidi, Meganne, Zainab and Ben.

The design contestants are given a brief guidline to follow.

Jordans guidlines are "Preppy look" "Pastels...no loud colours" "take look forward..." "...not too far"

Harleys guidlines are "Eccentric prints" "...pattern over colour" "take movement into account"

The contestants designing the oufits have 3 days to complete entire look which will be show cased on a skateboard halfpipe and eventually worn at Rizzle Kicks live appearance at music festival T in the Park.

During this challenge Henry Holland announces that the design contestants have another task, Pixie Lott needs a certain dress redesigned and restyled for going out tonight, the designers have 3 hours to complete a look that will impress Pixie Lott. Only fabric and embellishments that are already in the design studio can be used in this task.When the time is up Pixie Lott chooses 3 oufits to enable her to narrow it down to a winner, she picks outfits designed by Ricky, Meganne and Steve and after deliberation Meganne is chosen as the winner, the outfit looks great.

Back to the initial task of this weeks show with designing an outfit for Rizzle Kicks to wear on stage at music festival T in the Park.
The completed outfits are worn by skateboarders as they skate a halfpipe so that Jordan and Harley can see the designs that the designers have made especially for them. The duo each pick out an oufit that is a winner. For Jordan the winning oufit is by designer Steve.
For Harley the winning outfit is by designer Jacqueline.

Now that the winners have been selected there is one more thing to do and that is to vote out one of the design contestants.The designers have all made garments some of which fit the brief given by the duo and it is this that stands to the fore as a contestant will be asked to leave, the hosts of the show tell Brett that she did not listen to the brief correctly and so she is asked to leave.

Holiday Week End.

                                                                 Holiday Lake District.

The music is on, loud, John Digweed to assist in the before journey dance to get in the mood, not that i do any other mood than Happy.

We set off on our visit to the Lake District, not sure of our exact final destination as we will be meeting up with one of our friends who has defected.

On the trip is 4 of my friends and of course myself, on the way we listen to music and chat. The scenery on the journey is nice and we have the added bonus of blue skies and psychedelic minds. We do stop enroute to eat, drink and stretch our bodies, we also pick up literature travel brochures on various places to visit.
After some hours travelling the scenery changes from lowlands to hilly views till eventually at the lakes area the scenery turns mountainous and nature rules, reaching the Lake District we contact our other friend, she informs us that we could meet at Keswick so without map or sat nav we make our way there. Old Skool .
On arrival were surprised how busy the lake district area of Keswick is and it seems tourism is a major player, we are also surprised to have mobile phone reception and call our friend to arrange a meeting place, finally we see our friend who introduces us to another of her friends we have never met before, although they must be cool as she is so special, can be feisty and i think the inspiration behind the film Brave movie character Meradith. Hugs are nice .
Keswick in the Lake District is beautiful with its hills rolling to begin with then turning into an all encompassing shadowing picture of beauty with its abundance of towering hills as natures beauty cascades in every direction. The people play a vital role here as tourism has over taken the farming industry, the people now hidden amongst the valleys and the districts lakes which are popular with the adventure sports tourists and sight seeing hill walkers as well as water sports enthusiasts.
It was really good to see a friend that you care about but do not see enough of, after introductions we then chat about what has been happening and after not too long we are all relaxed and enjoying the fact that we are all in a nice place with pleasant company, it makes the day even warmer. " And the Sun is shining said Henry the hedgehog" : remembered this phrase from a book when i was very young.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

                           

We all head off on a wander around the Lake Districts Keswick to discover and perhaps be dicovered. The place is quaint and picturesque with a market on the street and a few tourist attractions and places of interest to visit, while some others explore a museum i explore some shops mostly hill walking shops which lead the way in the style stakes in this district which i think is fit for purpose and have nice garments, the best i seen were to protect from the harsher elements of the weather such as rainproof waterproof clothing by some very good manufactures Keela (munro jacket), DeerHunter (camoflague jacket). Footwear by equally good makers such as Hunter, La Sportiva, Scarpa and Meindl are also available, good footwear is essential.
Some thing that caught my eye apart from the occasional catwalker runway rare flowers, were some well cool inflatables, no not dolls although i did witness one on the back of a lady obviously on her hen night with lots of her friends in tow all dressed up in red and black with adourning horns attached to their heads, the inflatables i was interested in were colourful boats, there were canoes,dingys and kayaks of various colours, red, orange, yellow,black and blue, very handy for accessing the water and being spotted on the lakes, also easy to deflate and pack away to take home with you until the next time you were going boating.  Inflating  .

                         

The designer fashion style here is very much outdoors sports activities style, men and women wearing mountaineering and hill walking clothing matching them with hiking boots, walking shoes or waterproof footwear. The clothing garments being worn suggest outdoor sports so the sporty look is a popular one with many women wearing the skin hugging hill walking attire, also shorts seemed to be much on display but the weather was hot. The men were mostly wearing comfortable walking shoes and an array of outdoor clothes from waterproof trousers made of such a light breathable material they may be worn in heat as well. I did witness some individuals who had not taken to the hill sports style, there was one elderly lady who was exquisitely dressed like a queen, hat and all, although she may of been a local, walking in the housing area of Keswick, another designer fashion style look that i seen was a younger lady with a colour blocking vest top similar to Pucci style bright and colourful and wearing blue denim hot pant shorts on the fuller figure she was rocking them well, another women had bright yellow trousers with a top which was printed on but also had flower embellishments made of a rigid material which motioned with her movement she looked well styled floating on her leaf green high heel shoes. There was not any evidence of women wearing the L.B.D. (little black dress) but the figure hugging white dress was being worn on the main street shopping area and was worked well. Activity led designer fashion style, rock the runway and the air waves.  Wipe-out   .
After sight seeing we had built up an appetite and decided to look for some where to eat and drink with a nice atmosphere. Keswick is not short of pubs which look nice, it was such a nice evening that eating outdoors was looking promising as it is less often done and as so may be more of an occasion appreciated. We take our time and view options before settling on an establishment called "Oddfellows" which suits us well. "Oddfellows" indeed.

Oddfellows is decorated inside with many horse racing pictures and for our party of people the benefit of this place was the beer garden which is a large outdoor area with wooden tables and seats. It has a busy yet friendly relaxed atmosphere and since the weather was so beautiful it makes a change to eat outside.
It feels so pleasant to be here with the company of good friends. Love .
Whilst ordering our food and drink at the bar i ask what meal the bar person could recommend, they respond by saying "everything is good", but after prompting them again they reply with "the lamb henry is the best", "fall off the bone", and so it is ordered, and i must say i was not dissappointed, the lamb was very nice indeed, and as for my friends meals, clean plates all round.  Yummy  .The menu had a good mixed selection of food on offer for a variety of tastes. Oddfellows .
Oh i could just not resist good company, good place, good food. Memories .
During the meal we chat amongst ourselves and also get to know our old friends new found friend, we have discussions from work to designers to fashion to style to cars to music and around again. At one point we were talking about personal grooming and not just the women but men grooming, various views were heard and it goes on to prove that various opinions are neccesary to make the world go around, it would be boring if we were all the same. A difference in opinion does not mean that we cannot be friends.   Interesting  .

It was great to see an old friend and meet a new friend, i am grateful that you took the time to meet up and i do hope we see you soon, take care.

So after goodbye`s we are heading homeward bound in the dark of a summers night, the sky is alight with colours of purple, red and orange as if on fire by catching the last reflection of the summers sun, and we are heading to it`s warmth in the distance, beautiful.

Styled To Rock is a new television program to find the next design superstar with the presenter hosts Rihanna, Henry Holland, Nicola Roberts and Lysa Cooper.

I have just finished watching Styled to Rock series 1 episode 1 which i had recorded as was unable to watch the television tv program live when it was on, but shocked is an understatement when i see who is voted into the bottom two, they were so not my pick of the bunch.

Styled To Rock has hit our screens and it is such a great idea for a TV show that i can`t believe we have had to wait this time to witness such a broadcast idea as this. The program is a stroke of genius and i`m sure many will agree that it is fundamentally a source of entertainment though provides employment whilst also offering designers a platform from which they can exercise their skills in the art of creativity something they are passionate about.

At this early stage of the television show Styled To Rock, it is difficult to pick a favorite, so what i do is pick my favorites by selecting about half who i reckon will be a force to reckon with. This has been made easier for me as the task which was laid out had the designers follow a brief which was to design an outfit inspired by the music rap artist Kanye West each week the design contestants will be set a task to complete and some designers will just fall right there. Overall i was much impressed by the standard of the designers taking part in the program, though they had been hand picked.

Fashion Labels and Brands in the Past.

In the years gone by there have been many fashion labels which were very sought after at that time but unfortunately are no longer available today for various reasons. Fashions may fade but style is eternal.

Here are some of the labels which were popular years ago though may have faded today, some garments are very much sought after, and may be classed as vintage.

In each decade there have been styles which have been linked to music for inspiration or other influences, time is a factor when picking your favorite look, each look and decade has presented us with new and already existing labels and brands which created a cult like following. Best Designer Fashion Show Settings.

                                           BEST DESIGNER FASHION SHOW SETTINGS.

The most unique, memorable designer runway collections show settings that i have seen on the runway catwalks of the world this year so far are of course my own opinion though if you have any suggestions which you would like to share with us then feel free to message us.

Louis Vuitton runway catwalk show which had the models on a special locomotive train which is superbly first class, then when the models leave the carriages they are escorted by railway porters who carry the models / passengers Louis Vuitton luggage these ideas made an impact to the show and hence very memorable, also making the clothes stand out on location. Louis Vuitton.

Moschino also had a innovative idea for the runway catwalk show which was shown in a supermarket setting with everyday products relabeled with Moschino labels, this made the show have a unique setting and as so has lodged itself in my memory, this collection was well linked to the clothing being worn in the designers runway catwalk show. Moschino.

Trussardi also had a good idea using an outside venue for the show and made good use of the Trussardi logo, the dog, as the models had real dogs greyhounds on leads to take with them on the runway catwalk, the setting also had bikes and it was in a park setting which made the show relaxed and real life like in this particular setting. DSquared2 had a very good idea with the setting for the show runway catwalk show taking place as if it were in a classroom this idea reflected throughout the collection and hair and makeup. They had an American college setting on the runway catwalk with chairs and classroom feel with the models getting up to show us the collection, the setting made the whole feel and look of the show fantastic, it worked well and did impact well on the clothing in the show.
